When it comes to our Hindi Film Industry more popularly known as Bollywood, one always looks out for famous Productions houses like Yash Raj films, the Bhatt Camp or Yash Johar Productions who all have contributed the maximum to the Hindi film industry in terms of quality and box office profit. Similarly today even television industry consists of such famous Production houses who have not only taken the television medium to a whole new level of popularity in terms of the fan base and TRP ratings but have also changed the outlook of television to a great extent.

Balaji Telefilms (Ekta Kapoor): It is a well known fact that Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms is one of the oldest and most popular production house on small screen, ruling the industry for more than 10 years. As in the early days of “Hum Paanch”, Balaji Telefilms continues to run its success story even today with their latest venture in “Bade Achhe Lagte Hai”, showcasing it as yet another runaway success on Sony TV in terms of ratings and popularity.  Ekta Kapoor is called the undisputed queen of daily soaps for bringing out quite a few changes in television medium and for introducing the first ever Saas-Bahu genre in daily soap on TV.  “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” is a show that even today is termed as one of the classics of small screen.

Director’s Kut (Rajan Shahi) Productions: There was no looking back for Rajan Shahi once his Star Plus show “Bidaai” became a runaway success on small screen and created new records in terms of TRPs and popularity.  A story of two step sisters and their life’s journey with their respective life partners was beautifully crafted by this production house thus bringing a whole new refreshing change in television medium.  Even today this show is termed as one of the classics of small screen with fans now even demanding for its sequel.  Rajan Shahi’s production house later went onto produce yet another show for star plus named “Yeh Rishta kya Kehlata Hai” which went on to write yet another success story on small screen as it beautifully depicted the trials and tribulations of an arranged marriage. This show still manages to be one of the top 10 shows on small screen even after 2 years. Recently Rajan Shahi’s new show on Sony “Kuch Toh Log Kahenge” is also slowly but steadily climbing the popularity charts .This show is a unique love story between a much older man and a young girl .Both are doctors by profession but age becomes the biggest hurdle in their love story. 4Lions (Gul Khan) Productions : This production house gained their first major success in the form of Star One’s youth show “Geet Hui Sabse Parayi” which became nothing less than a mass hysteria among the viewers and created new records on the Internet as the most viewed show on You tube and other social networking sites.  Star One shows are known more for its youth viewers but “Geet Hui Sabse Parayi” was the first show to change this trend as it captured the attention of viewers of all ages; from girls below 15 to teenagers to viewers in their mid 20s and 30s to even the ones in their 40s and 50s. Endemol: This is one production company that has made its special place on small screen with a mixture of reality shows and fiction. Endemol is the production house which brought a revelation on small screen with “Bigg Boss”, the Indian version and each of its seasons have been proved to be super hits for various reasons.  In the past it was also associated with super hit reality adventure shows like “Khatron Ke Khiladi” broadcasted on channel Colors. This production house has also dabbled in the scape of daily soaps, by co-producing shows like “Miley Jab Hum Tum” and “Geet Hui Sabse Parayi” which at present enjoys the largest Internet fan base.  Its also associated with another fiction show on channel Imagine, “Beend Banoonga Ghodi Chadoonga” which is also enjoying some good ratings in last few months.  It can clearly be said that this is one rare production company which is smartly managing a proper balance between reality television and fictional drama.
