Iss Pyaar ko Kya Naam Doon- Analysis
The episode starts with Arnav giving an ultimatum that his engagement to Lavanya happens either tomorrow or never, leaving everybody including Khushi, in a state of shock. Engagement/ Marriage are occasions which you want to celebrate with your family, friends your loved ones, and thats what Lavanya will not get to do here. Khushi is shown to feel sad for Lavanya and her state, for which she feels responsible. She goes behind Arnav to confront him, but instead ends up being confronted by him. She finds herself in a fix when Arnav asks her why is his engagement affects her so much. Be his engagement tomorrow or after a year, what does it have to do with her? Barun Sobti has given some extremely beautiful expressions here, from being angry to hopeful, wanting to hear from her that “His engagement to another woman does affect her”.
“Hume koi farak nahi padta”- A statement that hurts not only Arnav but also Khushi. It pained her to say so, yet she managed to bring laughter and cheerfulness to everybody’s face once again as her declaration irks ASR to such an extent that he announces to postpone the engagement by one week. True to her Name “Khushi” she once again manages to make everybody smile. To make it a point that this entire thing affects Khushi, to break her, ASR postpones the engagement by a week, giving Khushi the entire responsibility of organizing the function. He hopes to give her time to come to realize his feelings, by not just allowing for extra time, but forcing her to face his enagement every step of the way, by having her make every selection and decision for the function, only to realize that sll this is for another woman….and not for her. Having no choice int he matter, Khushi obliges and agrees to help. The display of emotions by ASR, be it that of love, anger, or concern, everything is sketched flawlessly and Barun plays it to the hilt.
Anjali is busy taking measurements for the clothes to be made, andmentions that he needs to come and pick out the ring. Initially he says there is an important meeting he has to attend to but when he realizes that Khushi will now be helping her with the selection of the rings and that the jeweler was coming home, Arnav’s expressions ellude to him planning on being there. Now that Mr. Khadoos is on “Break Khushi Mission”, will he stay back and make her pick the ring for him?
Jalebi Bai is totally engrossed in making Jalebi, but then do you blame her? Its totally healthy way of venting out your feelings “You Eat Jalebi”. Enter evil spawn- Shyam, who today was caught quite in a “Fix”, not once but twice, first when blurts out by asking her about her newly assigned responsibilities to ASR-Lavanya engagement and 2nd the phone conversation that Khushi mentions. How long can one manipulate and keep everyone in darkness? Eventually light seeps through, no matter how dark it is, light surely makes it way leaving no room for darkness.
Khushi’s mother advice to her daughters were some of the most beautifully written dialogues, in today’s episode. especially the part which goes on to say that sometimes these affairs are so rushed that it leaves us questioning ourselves our decision, but we dont get an immediate answer, because these are the answers we get eventually, with time living your life.
Overall the episode was good. Special mention to Barun Sobti who can definitely take a bow, as he did an amazing job today, the transitions of feelings, the expressions, the impression was firm and intact.
Looks like this is going to be a very promising week for ” Iss Pyaar ko Kya Naam doon”!
