Donal Bisht who has appeared in serials like Saathiya and Twist Wala Love is back as Shranaya in Ek Deewaana Tha. She divulges details of her romantic supernatural thriller which is currently on air.
Q) Your character Shranaya in Ek Deewaana Tha appears to be very assertive!
Yes, Shranaya is a very confident girl and will go to the bottom of things if she finds anything amiss. She is happy and fearless. In the serial Shranaya is harassed by a spirit Shiv who doesn’t let anyone else come near her and does not reveal what he wants from her. The show and theme is different in which a supernatural power is involved in the love triangle.
Q) How did you land the part? Did you have to audition for it?
It’s very interesting how I got the role. When I got a call for this show I was auditioning for other parts. But during the audition for Ek Deewaana Tha I met Namik Paul and Vikram Singh Chauhan my costars in the show and we instantly became comfortable. It was one of the reasons I said yes.
Q) You are romancing two actors in the show. How was the experience?
It was nice. I strongly feel it’s important to be comfortable with your costars because good bonding takes the show forward. It’s the first time I am playing a lead and both Namit and Vikram helped and supported me.
Q) How is this character different from the others you have played on television?
Shranaya is the most meaty character I have played. I have done daily soaps before but there was not much for me to do. There are a lot of twists and turns in the story and I am very glad that Prateek Sharma, the producer whose shows I have done earlier, selected me for this show.
Q) In real life do you believe in spirits and the supernatural?
I have a different take on the paranormal world and supernatural happenings. I believe if you believe in these things they exist for you. I don’t believe in spirits and all that but I am scared of the dark.
Q) What is the USP of Ek Deewaana Tha?
The USP of the show is that a ghost is part of a love triangle. Besides, there is a good dose of romance in the serial and there is no vulgarity so the entire family can sit and watch it together. The locations are stunning!
Q) Do you recall any interesting happening during the shooting?
In one of the scenes I had to go on top of a high rise, and even though all safety measures were taken I was very scared because I am petrified of heights. But I was determined to give the shot and I did! Also on the first day of my shoot I bumped into Jennifer Winget. She wished me all the best and I was so happy because she is my favorite television actress!
