10 years of Jab We Met…WOW!!! Time sure does fly.
There has been only a handful of Bollywood rom-coms that has found immense success at the box office, and still fewer who have risen to the status of a cult-classic. It would not be wrong to say that after Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge if there is a movie that has risen to the status of a classic it is Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met.
10 years back viewers fell in love with Geet – a crazy, fun and full of life young woman… Aditya -an brooding young man, and the journey they embarked upon which culminated in the duo rediscovering themselves…life and eventually finding true love. What struck about Jab We Met apart from Kareena and Shahid’s obvious chemistry was the simplicity of it all. A beautiful story said in a rather simple way went onto tug at the audience heart-strings, and today even after a decade Geet and Aditya are remembered fondly.
Who can forget Geet’s non-stop chattering when she first meets Aditya?, The famous dialogues ” Main apni favorite hoon” or “Sikhni hoon main … Bhatinda ki!”, the walk through the deserted road to Hotel Decent (LOL), Aditya’s pain when he finds a completely broken and shattered Geet, The gali sequence, and several other scenes, dialogues, emotions etc. that made Jab We Met a cinematic experience to be cherished forever?
Nothing can replace the original… The magic and charm of it can never be recreated only imbibed; and still not come close to the brilliance of the original. But what if the movie was made as a Finite Fictional Series for Television? Who would play Geet Dhillon and Aditya Kashyap?
Our vote goes to these brilliant actors…Check it out.
Ankitta Sharma as Geet Dhillon
Anyone who has been to Ankitta’s Insta page and watched her performances as Lajwanti and Naina will know why we chose this pretty actress to play the punjabi kudi or should I say the Sikhni of Bhatinda. Ankitta would not only ace the crazy, fun, talkative full of zest Geet Dhillon but can equally pull off the emotional scenes… the broken spirited Geet we see in the second half of the movie who was simply waiting to be reminded of her favorite game – Life, something that Aditya reminds her of.
Nakuul Mehta as Aditya Kashyap
Having essayed Adi in Pyar Ka Dard and Shivaay in Ishqbaaz there is no doubt that Nox can pull this one of effortlessly. The transition from the brooding young man in the first half of the movie to a more fun, loving and sensible man or rather a better version of Aditya Kayshap all thanks to a chance meeting with the feisty Geet on a train journey that changes his life forever can be essayed brilliantly by Nakuul. Don’t you think?
Well this is our cast for Jab We Met if it were to be made on Telly.
Who would you cast? Any interesting pairs in mind? Let’s get creative shall we? No current on-screen couples or actors who have been paired together in the past.
